Fitness

This is a PASSION of mine! My time at the gym is my “me” time! I realize that this is not the case for most women. I understand and want to encourage you in this area. I have had many days and seasons of life when stepping foot in the gym is the last thing on my mind. On occasion my husband gets in on this time... I allow it! I am lucky he likes to work out... when he joins me, I usually get a much better work out in.

In order to keep FITNESS FUN I try to rotate what I do and make sure it is something that I look forward to! If I am just not feeling lots of energy and dont want to go to the gym I try to walk for 20 min and thn I can typically get "into it". Below is a generaly guide and examples of what I do to keep fit.

Cardio: I try to work out 6 days a week. Sometimes its more and sometimes its less. If my body is feeling like it needs a break than I allow myself to have a light day or a rest day.
Examples of Cardio Sessions:
  1. Eliptical Trainer (typically a easier day/ steady pace)
  2. Walking at various speeds and inclines (Fat Burning Work out! I watch my Heart Rate)
  3. Running (Steady calorie burning work out)
  4. Sprint/ walk intervals (Calorie blast with a lasting effect)
  5. Bike (typically at the end of a work out to get an extra 15 min. of cardio in)
  6. Pliometrics (tacked on to weights...jump squats are my favorite)
Weights: My goal is to lift weights 3 times a week. I am not always good at getting it done. I work a different muscle group each time. I strongly suggest getting a training session on weight lifting if you are just starting out. It will help you to learn and not hurt yourself. Lifting weight increases your calorie burn all day long because your body is building muscle!

Goal: Enjoy working out and gain a healthy body! Take care of my body but not over do it and become obbsessive with working out. Besides physical benefits, exercise brings great emotional benefits. Its a nice natural high!
